Heavy Duty Workbenches for Sertus Smoke Ventilation.

Sertus, a leading manufacturer of smoke ventilation systems, partnered with Hexagon Workspaces to upgrade their production environment. The goal was to create a more efficient, flexible, and organised workspace that supported lean manufacturing principles and could adapt as the company grows.

Hexagon designed and installed a series of custom-built, mobile workbenches and trolleys to streamline Sertus’ assembly and testing operations. The new layout reduced unnecessary movement, improved access to tools and components, and enhanced visibility with integrated lighting systems. Each bench was tailored to Sertus’ workflow - complete with under-bench storage, pick bins, and monitor mounts for digital work instructions.

Results

Since the installation, Sertus has seen significant gains in efficiency, safety, and staff satisfaction. The new systemised workspace supports standardisation across production lines, enabling team members to work seamlessly from any station. The durable UK-manufactured benches have proven exceptionally robust under daily industrial use - helping Sertus maintain precision and productivity as they continue to expand operations.
